Pikachu originally wasn’t meant to be the Pokemon mascot, but people loved it so much that it stole the role away from Clefairy. Now, Pikachu is so popular that it’s the Japanese equivalent of Mickey Mouse, and people are actually hired to dress up like Pikachu and go to places like birthday parties and amusement parks.
