In the lore of Lord of the Rings, the staves of the Istari are the conduits of their power and symbols of their rank, as well as physical tools for such mundane things as hiking the peaks of Haradros and fighting goblins in the depths of Khazad-dum. This particular staff is a replica of the one held by Gandalf the Grey. That staff was used for hundreds of years before being lost in Moria when Gandalf fought the Balrog Durin’s Bane. It had served faithfully and it was fitting that such a tool be lost in the fires of one of Morgoth’s greatest servants, a being matched in rank and power by Gandalf himself, a fallen maia of fire.

We here at Fun.com have done our best to reproduce this staff and we think we’ve achieved that, even with some very minimal improvements! The shape, color, and dimensions (54”) of the staff are the same as those of the actual staff carried by Gandalf, but the material has been improved from wood to plastic. This is much lighter and has less heft than Gandalf’s staff, which is fitting since we are mortals and not magic-wielding wizards!

Gandalf the Grey Tabby Cat strolled into the shire in search of Fur-odo Baggins. The two embarked upon a perilous journey to return the One Ring of Purr-ower to the dangerous Meowdor, a volcanic mountain where the evil artifact was forged. On their travels, they met an elf-cat named Claw-golas with exceptional skills in archery and a errant lion king named Aragorn (the cat). After facing many Pawraiths and Clawblins, they complete their task and save Middle-earth from a terrible Cat-astrophe. The end.

A good staff can truly make the wizard. It's a valuable tool that allows a wizard to focus and direct his powers and energy, and plus, it comes in awfully handy when they set out on long, epic journeys and they're on foot. So if you're planning to dress up as Gandalf the Grey, we definitely recommend having one. Of course, you could always hike into the woods by your house and see if you can find a fallen tree branch that'll work. Or you can just avoid poison ivy, termites, and truly look authentic with a staff that recreates the looks and magic of the one that Gandalf uses. So for a wizard costume that'll make Orcs shiver in their boots, make sure you're armed with this Gandalf Illuminating Staff!

This officially licensed wizard accessory is definitely a step above generic staffs, thanks to its realistic heft and an impressive "wooden" look.
